Trained and certified in the methodology of life care planning which produces a

comprehensive evaluation of the current and future health care needs of

individuals with catastrophic injuries.  As an independent consultant, designs life

care plans; analyzes residual medical and disability issues; consults with medical

and rehabilitation professionals; researches medical treatment, assistive

technology, and equipment needs and costs; and provides expert witness

deposition and trial testimony. As a Life Care Planner, has provided direct case

management services to a child with short bowel syndrome, a diabetic patient on

dialysis, and a hospice cancer patient.  Life care plans are based on published

standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis, and research.

 

2006- PRESENT                        Life Care Planner, United States Department of Veterans Affairs (Palo Alto, CA)

 

Life Care Planner for a pilot program utilizing life care planning methodology to

improve the care of Iraqi War Veterans with catastrophic injuries.

As the Co-Primary Investigator, research is being conducted regarding ÒThe

Clinical Characteristics of Polytrauma and Blast Injuries.Ó

 

2000-PRESENT                         Emergency Physician, California Emergency Physicians (Marin General Hospital

As an actively practicing medical doctor, provides comprehensive emergency

services to adults and children with various physical and catastrophic

injuries at a Level II Trauma Center.  Areas of treatment include Adult Medicine,

Pediatric Medicine, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Surgery, Orthopedics, and Trauma.
